Thomas LaGreca, Esq.
Chief Growth Officer
Co-Founder | Relentless Advocate for Medical Providers & The No Surprises Act (NSA)
Thomas LaGreca is an attorney who started with Callagy Law in early 2012 and who, in addition to serving as Legal Counsel to Callagy Recovery as a partner at Callagy Law, is Callagy Recovery’s Chief Growth Officer. He is also a founding member of Callagy Recovery.
After graduating from law school in 1983, as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review at St, John’s University School of Law, Mr. LaGreca worked as a litigator for the large Wall Street Law Firm Dewey Ballantine. There, he worked on large antitrust and construction litigation matters. From Dewey Ballantine, he went to NYNEX Corp., now Verizon, as a Regulatory Attorney, arguing on behalf of NYNEX and its subsidiaries before the New York Public Service Commission. After several years, he decided to leave the practice of law and start his own business.
So, in 1990, he became the co-owner of a commercial flooring business, dealing mainly with large commercial flooring projects in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. The business quickly grew into a multi-million-dollar construction enterprise, with clientele and projects that included Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lennox Hill Hospital and NYU Langone Medical Center, as well as New York University. After more than 20 years in the New York City construction industry, Mr. LaGreca joined Callagy Law in the beginning of 2012 and Callagy Recovery in 2024.
Mr. LaGreca has spoken across the country on the NSA and State Surprise Bill Laws for the past six years, even before the NSA was passed but not yet in effect. These engagements have been before numerous medical associations in various states. He has also written one of the premier resources for understanding the area, a book entitled “Removing the Surprises from the Surprise Medical Bill Laws.” He, along with Sean Callagy, have been consulted by Health and Human Services on the implementation of the NSA, and they have assisted Congressional leaders in drafting and proposing amendments to the NSA to cure some of its defects.
Mr. LaGreca’s background in both the law and business provides him with the ability to grasp the legal issues surrounding healthcare recovery, while at the same time understanding the business and financial challenges faced by the medical industry. Moreover, his experience on Wall Street as an attorney and in the very rough-and-tumble atmosphere of New York City construction has provided him with a work ethic difficult to surpass in the worlds of the law or business. For these reasons, he rightfully regards himself as:
The Single Most Dedicated Trusted Advisor to the Medical Industry in the Area of Revenue Recovery Against Insurance Companies.
